We at Urban Explorations specialize in the full scale digital recreations of locations for preservation or construction purposes using a process of our own creation that is both cheap and rather quick. We are using this process to create full 3D tours of historic sites around the country. We go to a historic site, scan it using drones and other equipment, import the models into the Unreal engine, then put in period furniture, equipment, photos, video/audio tours, and make it publicly available for purchase. The purchase cost acts as a one time entry fee where 50% of the profit is sent back to the historic site or associated nonprofit in order to help preserve and pass on historical information from one generation to the next.

Expanded access. |
Expanded reach. |
One of the big benefits of this technology is that with digital reconstruction of historic sites access to these sites can be increased while at the same time reducing wear and tear on the site while reducing the use of resources. Now instead of someone having to travel long distances to see a location or a museum they can now see the site and learn about its history from the comfort of their own home on desktop and VR. No longer is historical knowledge limited by ones ability or willingness to travel long distances. People from anywhere in the world can visit any place in the world in their own living room.

In todays busy world and changing demographics the way people learn and consume information has changed dramatically. With the advent of digital media the younger generation spends far more time computers then they do with long distance travel. So by by preserving history in an easy to access and easy to use digital format historic sites and museums can now reach far more people then they could before. We plan on using this technology to take full advantage of the opportunities modern technology provides for educating future generations while simultaneously helping preserve history for those future generations.
